Light, floral, and delightfully complex, this washed Ethiopian coffee offers a vibrant and balanced flavour, perfect for an easy-going filter brew or a captivating espresso experience.
Sourced from the Adorsi washing station, located in the heart of Yirgacheffe, this coffee is processed with great care. Faysel Abdosh, who acquired and renovated the station in 2017, has enhanced its infrastructure to ensure the highest quality standards. The station partners with smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee using traditional, organic methods, often intercropped with food crops and relying on manual labour from their families.
Adorsi’s meticulous sorting and processing methods preserve the unique character of these beans, delivering a standout coffee full of bright, complex flavours.
Yirgacheffe Coffee – A Legendary Origin
From the lush Sidamo region in Southern Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe is celebrated as one of the birthplaces of coffee. So renowned are its washed coffees that Yirgacheffe is often regarded as its unique micro-region, sought after by coffee connoisseurs worldwide.
The majority of Yirgacheffe’s coffee comes from local landrace varieties, often referred to as Ethiopian heirloom. Other varieties in the region have been developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC), known for producing high-yield, disease-resistant strains while maintaining exceptional flavour profiles.
Farming in Yirgacheffe remains traditional, with most farmers working on small plots, many under 5 hectares. Coffee is often cultivated as part of an integrated ‘coffee garden,’ intercropped with other food crops, ensuring sustainability and preserving the heritage of Ethiopian coffee.
