Our Indonesia Sumatra coffee is crafted using the traditional wet-hulled method unique to the region. It’s rich and full-bodied, with smooth notes of nutmeg, gentle spice, and a touch of sweet pea that makes it both comforting and versatile—perfect as a cosy filter brew or a bold espresso.
Indonesia is famous for a unique way of processing coffee called wet hulling (known locally as giling basah). This method was developed to deal with the constant humidity and unpredictable rain in Sumatra, where drying coffee in the open air can be slow and risky. Instead, farmers partially dry the beans before removing the parchment layer, giving Indonesian coffees their distinct, earthy character with deep body and rich flavour.
Although Indonesian coffee has sometimes been overlooked in the specialty world, it has a long history and incredible diversity. Thanks to close relationships with producers across the islands, we’re proud to offer high-quality coffees from Indonesia that are not only delicious but also traceable back to their unique origins.
